Although regarded as one of the largest governments in the galaxy the Trade Federation, in reality, is the center of a vast and sprawling conglomerate, directing the innumerable sub-divisions and subsidiaries that exercise control over the hundreds of worlds which comprise it.
Chiefest among these are the nationalised group, six of the largest corporations operating in Federation territory that, over the years, have been acquired and integrated into the Trade Federation. They are some of the most prestigious groups in the galaxy, developing its most prized technology for the Trade Federation and its members.
Because of the sheer size of the Federation, each of these companies have been granted monopoly charters to perform certain functions on behalf of the government, becoming critical parts of the whole state infrastructure in the process.
