The Trade Federation Department of External Affairs today announced the successful completion of two major divestment agreements involving the Naboo System (Chommel Sector) and the Serpine System (I-Sector). These transactions mark a definitive step in a strategic consolidation of Federation assets, designed to eliminate the mounting costs of maintaining systems situated too far from our core territories.
The Federation’s Cabinet has determined that maintaining a presence in these outlier systems is no longer a sound strategy. The Naboo and Serpine systems, while historically significant, sit at a distance that complicates our supply chain and administrative oversight. By offloading these distant territories, the Cabinet is refocusing all resources on the Federation’s Core Territories, ensuring maximum efficiency and defensive protection.

The Naboo System (Chommel Sector)
The Trade Federation has formally transferred all administrative rights and territorial claims of the Naboo System to the New Republic.
Due to its distance from our primary hubs, the Naboo system had become a logistical burden. This sale allows the Federation to exit a region that required excessive upkeep, while the New Republic gains a key system within its own spheres of influence.
The Serpine System (I-Sector)
In a separate agreement, the Federation has finalized the sale of the Serpine System within the I-Sector to our longtime associates, the Tion Hegemony.
The Serpine System’s location made it an isolated asset for our current fleet deployment. Given our “old friendship” with the Tion Hegemony, they were the natural choice to assume control of the system. This transfer ensures that Serpine remains under the stewardship of a trusted partner while the Federation sheds the liability of managing a remote sector.
The Cabinet maintains that these sales represent a strengthening of the Federation’s position. By withdrawing from systems that are too far to efficiently manage, we are doubling down on our core assets.
“A sprawling map is a weak map. By pulling back from distant outliers like Naboo and Serpine, we are ensuring that every credit and every ship is concentrated where they provide the most value: within our own borders.” — Spokesperson for the Trade Federation Department of External Affairs.
